About Us

A. Blum Localization Services is a Palo Alto–based SEO, search strategy, and localization consultancy founded in 2016 by Ardan Michael Blum. It helps organizations investigate indexing and visibility problems, define the purpose of important pages, improve long-form and regional content, and plan versions for different languages and markets.

Ardan leads each project directly. The work begins by establishing what has happened and what evidence can test it. Only then does the consultancy recommend a technical repair, an editorial change, a structural decision, localization work, or no change. The written scope also states who will implement the recommendation and how the result will be checked.

Current Availability and Standard Engagement Terms

Current status as of August 13, 2026: A. Blum Localization Services is not accepting projects for immediate start. Suitable inquiries may be considered for a waiting list, with timing discussed before any engagement is proposed.

The standard consulting rate is $185 USD per hour. Engagements normally require a minimum of 15 hours per month and an initial term of two months.

Qualifying nonprofit and charitable organizations may be considered for a 20 percent reduction in the standard rate. The reduction is not automatic. Eligibility, scope, schedule, fees, and any third-party costs are confirmed in writing before work begins.

These terms are general information rather than a binding offer. An engagement begins only after both parties approve a written scope.

A Public Example of the Method

The following example is a self-directed public project, not a client case study. It is included because readers can inspect the work itself. It demonstrates research, diagnosis, editorial structure, and local contextualization; it does not prove a client ranking, traffic, inquiry, or revenue result.

Problem

A useful Palo Alto visitor guide has to do more than list attractions. Visitors cross between the City of Palo Alto and Stanford University, encounter different parking and access systems, and depend on operating information that can change. A long page can contain many correct facts while still leaving the central planning decisions hard to find.

Diagnosis

The main problem was information architecture and evidence control. A visitor first needs geographic orientation and practical choices—how to arrive, where to begin, what can be combined, and which authority controls a place. Changeable details such as schedules, closures, fares, and admission rules need a route back to the responsible source.

Recommendation

The editorial plan separated orientation from operational detail, organized the material around visitor decisions, distinguished city property from university property, added practical itineraries, and linked changeable claims to city, university, transit, museum, and venue sources.

Implemented Result and Its Limit

The current Palo Alto Tourism and Stanford Visitor Guide includes a starting section for trip planning, separate guidance for air, rail, road, and local transportation, explanations of Palo Alto and Stanford as distinct places, suggested one-day plans, and links to primary sources for details that may change. The page was last updated on August 11, 2026.

The published page makes the resulting structural decisions observable: the recommendations can be checked directly against the page itself. No claim is made here that the work caused a particular search position or commercial outcome.

Problems We Investigate and the Work They May Require

Organizations rarely arrive with a proven diagnosis. They usually report a symptom: an important page is missing from Google, the wrong page appears, relevant traffic has declined, a local service is difficult to find, or a site has become hard to understand. Similar symptoms can have different causes, so the recommendation should follow the evidence rather than a predetermined package.

An Important Page Is Not Appearing in Search

A page can work normally for a visitor and still be difficult for a search system to discover, crawl, render, index, or select. The investigation may examine internal links, server responses, redirects, robots directives, rendered content, sitemaps, and canonical signals. Meeting Google’s minimum technical requirements makes a page eligible for indexing; it does not guarantee that the page will be indexed or shown for a particular search.

The Wrong Page Appears

When several URLs contain duplicate or very similar material, Google may group them and select a representative, or canonical, URL. Distinct pages create a different problem when they address the same need without explaining their separate purposes. The appropriate decision may be to clarify page roles, strengthen internal links, consolidate genuine overlap, or make canonical signals consistent.

A redirect is appropriate when another page is a genuine replacement or consolidated successor. If no equivalent page exists, an accurate 404 or 410 response is usually clearer than a redirect to an unrelated destination. Google’s site-move guidance says irrelevant redirects can be treated as soft 404 responses.

Organic Search Traffic Has Declined

A useful review separates the loss by page, query, country, device, search appearance, and date. It also considers technical changes, indexing or security problems, spam actions, ranking-system changes, seasonality, and changes in demand. Google’s guide to debugging Search traffic drops recommends examining the pattern before making radical changes. The first question is: what changed, where, and for which audience?

The Site Has Become Difficult to Understand

Older sites often preserve the remains of past services, campaigns, redesigns, publishing systems, and internal teams. They may contain obsolete pages, competing articles, repeated explanations, or navigation organized around departments rather than visitors. Work may include defining one primary destination, revising supporting pages, combining genuine overlap, retiring material that no longer has a purpose, and improving headings and internal links.

The aim is to make each important page more accurate, distinctive, and understandable. Google’s link guidance explains that crawlable links help it find pages and that descriptive anchor text helps people and Google understand the linked material.

A Local or Regional Service Is Difficult to Find

A city name in a heading does not establish a meaningful local relationship. A regional page should explain where an organization operates, where it can actually provide the service, whom it serves there, and what changes from one market to another. Substantially similar city pages that mainly funnel visitors to the same destination may fall within Google’s doorway-abuse policy.

Website content and a Google Business Profile are related but distinct. Google says local results are mainly based on relevance, distance, and how well known or popular a business is; it also says there is no way to request or pay for a better local ranking. Website copy cannot substitute for a genuine physical presence or a real capacity to serve the stated area. A. Blum Localization Services does not offer Google Business Profile creation or ongoing profile management.

A Redesign, Migration, or Launch Is Being Planned

Important URLs, internal links, and redirects are easier to preserve when search planning begins before a redesign or migration. Advance work may include an inventory of important pages, a map from old URLs to genuine successors, redirect rules, canonical and hreflang updates, internal-link changes, analytics and Search Console checks, and a post-launch monitoring plan. Careful preparation also makes unexpected changes easier to diagnose.

Localization: Languages, Markets, and Responsibility

In this work, translation addresses the language of the content; localization also adapts the page to the market in which it will be used. Depending on the project, that can affect terminology, examples, offers, currencies, measurements, legal references, metadata, contact details, forms, URLs, internal links, and the technical relationship among language or regional versions.

Working Language and Market Scope

Consulting, research, project management, and English-language editorial work are conducted in English. The consultancy’s direct market focus is the United States, especially the San Francisco Bay Area. Clients may be based elsewhere, but a client’s location does not by itself establish coverage of every publication language or target market.

French-language and other target-language publication work is considered only when the written scope identifies the qualified translator and target-language reviewer responsible for it. Other countries and publication languages are considered project by project when the necessary target-market knowledge and language resources can be identified in advance.

Translation and Review Responsibility

Translation is not automatically included in an SEO or localization engagement. The written scope states whether the client will provide a translation or a qualified external translator will be separately engaged. It also identifies who selects and pays any outside language specialist.

Every publication language must have a qualified target-language reviewer with the proficiency, subject knowledge, and target-market familiarity required for the assignment. A client or subject specialist remains responsible for approving factual and product claims. Legal or regulatory wording must be supplied or approved by the client and, when legal advice is required, qualified counsel. The website owner confirms the agreed technical implementation.

Machine-assisted translation may be used only when the written scope permits it and the treatment of client material is consistent with the agreed confidentiality requirements. It does not replace qualified target-language review.

Localization Quality Control

Before publication, the core review checks meaning and completeness, approved terminology, names and numbers, offers and contact details, and consistency across the page. The rendered-page review then checks visible copy, titles and descriptions, forms and calls to action, internal links, language settings, and the agreed canonical and hreflang implementation.

For sites with separate language or regional URLs, hreflang annotations can help Google understand equivalent localized versions and direct searchers toward an appropriate page. Hreflang does not replace accurate language, market-specific information, or a coherent site structure.

How an Engagement Proceeds

1. Define the Problem and the Baseline

The first step records what is happening, what was expected instead, which pages or audiences are affected, and when the change began. Where measurement matters, the baseline is recorded before implementation. It may include index status, Google-selected canonical URLs, relevant Search Console impressions and clicks, landing pages, regional performance, or the quality of inquiries.

2. Examine the Evidence With Limited Access

Investigation uses the least access reasonably required for the agreed task. At the audit stage, Google advises site owners to grant only read access to Search Console. Passwords, full administrative access, personal records, and unrelated business data should not be sent through an inquiry form.

URL discovery, crawling, and rendering feed into indexing, which includes canonical selection; indexed pages may then be served and ranked for relevant searches. Keeping those processes distinct prevents an indexing problem from being treated as a content problem, or a demand change from being treated as a technical failure.

3. Make Specific Decisions

A recommendation identifies the affected page or section, the evidence behind the diagnosis, the proposed action, the person responsible for implementation, and the result the action is intended to produce. It may specify:

• which page should become the primary destination;

• which URLs should remain separate, be revised, be combined, be redirected, or be retired;

• which passage is unclear or which information is missing;

• which claim needs stronger support;

• which pages should link to one another and why;

• which audience a page should serve first; or

• whether a new page would solve the problem or make existing overlap worse.

The scope states whether A. Blum Localization Services will implement a change, work with the client’s developer, translator, or editor, or provide instructions for the client’s team.

4. Validate the Implementation and Measure the Intended Change

Completion of a task does not establish that the underlying problem has been corrected. The first follow-up checks whether the recommendation was implemented as specified. Later measurement returns to the original baseline and uses evidence appropriate to the diagnosis.

An indexing repair may be judged by crawl, index, and canonical evidence. A content or audience change may require a longer comparison of relevant impressions, clicks, landing-page behavior, or inquiries. A localization project may examine whether the intended regional versions are indexed, shown to the appropriate audience, and generating relevant inquiries from the intended market.

The follow-up period is set in the written scope because search systems must recrawl and process changes, demand can be seasonal, and some effects take longer to observe than others. One manual search, one day of data, or total traffic alone is not enough to establish success or causation.

Who the Consultancy May Suit

The work is designed for organizations with a real service, product, publication, or body of knowledge; access to the evidence needed for diagnosis; and a willingness to revise or retire existing material when the evidence supports that decision. It may suit:

• startups and growing companies that need to connect technical or founder language with the problems customers recognize;

• professional practices that need clear service distinctions, accurate qualifications, and credible regional information;

• larger organizations addressing one section, market, migration, or indexing problem across a more complicated publishing system; and

• publishers, nonprofits, and specialist organizations whose knowledge is obscured by weak headings, inconsistent terminology, overlapping articles, or poor connections among pages.

A. Blum Localization Services is based in Palo Alto and works remotely where the subject, market, language resources, access arrangements, and schedule fit the project. The written scope identifies the physical presence, language capability, and direct market expertise on which the project will rely.

Evidence, Confidentiality, and Limits

A detailed method is not proof of a client result. The public example above demonstrates how the consultancy approaches research and structure, but it is not presented as evidence of client return on investment. A ranking, traffic, inquiry, or revenue result will not be claimed without publishable supporting data and an appropriate basis for attribution.

Client names, private data, documents, and before-and-after examples are not published without permission. Access, retention, sharing with outside specialists, and confidentiality obligations are addressed in the written agreement and the site’s privacy information.

Google advises site owners to avoid SEOs who guarantee first place. A. Blum Localization Services does not guarantee rankings, indexing, inclusion in an AI-generated answer, traffic, inquiries, or revenue. It does not sell copied location pages, mass-produced articles, paid links, link schemes, or manufactured authority signals.

Google’s current guidance on AI features and websites says that established SEO practices remain relevant to AI Overviews and AI Mode. It does not require a special AI text file or special schema for eligibility. To be eligible as a supporting link, a page must be indexed and eligible to appear in Google Search with a snippet; eligibility does not guarantee inclusion.

Describe the Problem

In the first message, include the website address, the page or section causing concern, what you are observing, what you expected instead, and any recent redesign, migration, publishing, or platform change that may be relevant. Do not send passwords, personal records, or other sensitive information through the inquiry form.

Ardan Michael Blum will reply to say whether the problem appears to fit the consultancy’s work and whether the likely waiting-list timing fits the prospective client’s needs. If it does, the reply will identify the information needed to prepare a written scope. The initial exchange is for suitability and scope; it is not a free technical audit or diagnosis.
